Wine storage is as important as display in restaurants and retail wine stores. Keeping wine at a constant temperature and humidity level is essential. In addition, wine needs to be kept away from dramatic temperature fluctuations. This can be a challenge for a store owner with a large quantity of wine. Grapevine is named for the wild Mustang grapes that covered the area when settlers first arrived in 1844. GrapeFest celebrates the beloved grape in a multitude of ways – including grape stomping, grape crushing and wine tasting. A popular GrapeFest pastime is the competitive Grape Stomping Competition, where contestants competitively vie for the coveted Purple Foot Award – reminiscent of the infamous “Grape Stomping” episode from I Love Lucy. Napa Valley Viticultural Fair The Napa Valley Grapegrowers presents the Napa Valley Viticultural Fair. This event is a must-attend trade show for the premium wine industry. The indoor booths provide networking opportunities for growers and suppliers, while equipment exhibitors staged outside will conduct demonstrations throughout the day and give attendees a chance to experience new equipment on the market first-hand. Walla Walla Winemakers’ Fête Carnegie Art Center and the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance announce the 3rd annual Walla Walla Winemakers’ Fête. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, December 4, from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm at the Marcus Whitman Hotel and Conference Center. Winemakers’ Fête is the opening event for Holiday Barrel Tasting Weekend and gives guests the opportunity to taste many of the Valley’s wines, enjoy a three-course dinner at an intimate table hosted by a local winemaker, and bid on holiday-themed silent auction lots.
